A 24/7 loan in Canada is a short-term payday loan you apply for outside regular business hours: at 3 a.m., over a long weekend, or on a stat holiday when every other lender's office is closed. iCash accepts these applications around the clock, every day of the year, including holidays. The application and the decision process runs 24/7. What happens next, when the money actually lands in your account, comes down to one thing outside our control: your own bank's processing schedule.
If speed itself is what you're after once you're approved, see how quickly funds can move after approval. This page covers something a little different: when you can apply in the first place, and what to expect at each hour of the day or night.
Yes. We accept payday loan applications 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you aren’t limited to regular banking hours. You can apply in the evening, overnight, on a weekend, or on a statutory holiday. Once you submit your request, you’ll typically receive a decision nearly immediately. If you’re approved, iCash sends the funds by Interac e-Transfer®, usually within two minutes of approval.
That means applying outside regular working hours doesn’t automatically mean waiting until the next work day to process your submission or send your money. The approval process continues around the clock.
The part that can affect the final arrival time is your bank. Some financial institutions process incoming Interac e-Transfers as soon as they’re received, regardless of whether it’s the middle of the night, a Sunday, or a statutory holiday. If your bank processes transfers continuously, the money may appear in your account shortly after it’s sent.
Other financial institutions handle transfers differently. They may hold an Interac e-Transfer that arrives overnight, on a weekend, or during a holiday and release it the following workday morning. In that situation, iCash may have already sent your funds, but you’ll still need to wait for your bank to finish processing the transfer.
Weekday business hours | Minutes | Immediately after approval | Within minutes |
Weekday overnight | Minutes | Immediately after approval | Within minutes, if your bank processes overnight |
Saturday or Sunday | Minutes | Immediately after approval | Minutes to next business day, bank-dependent |
Statutory holiday | Minutes | Immediately after approval | Often the next business day |
Once iCash sends your Interac e-Transfer, how quickly it arrives depends on your financial institution. Most Canadian banks process Interac e-Transfers around the clock, including weekends. Some smaller banks and credit unions may process transfers in batches, which means a weekend or overnight transfer may not arrive until the next regular workday morning.
Two things can affect how quickly you get your money: whether you have Interac e-Transfer auto-deposit set up and, if you don’t, how quickly you accept the transfer. With auto-deposit, the money goes straight into your account. Without it, you’ll receive an email and need to follow the link and answer a security question first.
If you haven’t already, it’s worth setting up auto-deposit before you need a transfer. It doesn’t take long and means there’s one less step between the money being sent and reaching your account.
iCash charges $14 for every $100 you borrow, regardless of when you apply. There are no application or subscription fees, and applying at 3 a.m. costs the same as applying at 3 p.m. You’ll see the full amount you need to repay, along with the due date, before you agree to the loan.
$100 | $14 | $114 |
$300 | $42 | $342 |
$500 | $70 | $570 |
$1,000 | $140 | $1,140 |
$1,500 | $210 | $1,710 |
Borrow $500 at 2 a.m. on a Saturday and the cost is the same as it would be at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday. At $14 per $100 borrowed, the fee on a $500 loan is $70, bringing your total repayment to $570.
There isn’t an extra charge for applying late at night, on a weekend, or outside regular hours. The cost is based on how much you borrow, not when you submit your request. So whether an unexpected expense comes up on a Saturday night or you apply during the workweek, borrowing the same amount comes with the same fee.

Being able to apply for a loan 24/7 doesn’t mean approval is guaranteed. A licensed lender still needs to determine whether you meet its eligibility requirements, including whether your income is enough to comfortably manage repayment. Those requirements stay the same whether you apply at 2 p.m. or 2 a.m.
You can submit your information at any time, and your application is reviewed 24/7, without waiting for regular hours. That means you may be able to receive a decision late at night, early in the morning, or over the weekend.
Approval is a separate matter. Your financial situation determines whether you qualify, not the time you happen to apply.
If your credit history is part of what’s making you unsure about qualifying, it helps to understand what lenders actually consider.

When you need money after hours, a payday loan isn't the only option in front of you. Below, we explore how the alternatives compare once you look past the marketing.
Cash advance apps advertise round-the-clock access, and are usually available any time. What the marketing tends to leave out: first advances are typically capped near $250, and new accounts can wait 4 to 7 workdays days before that first advance clears.
Bank overdraft is immediate if it's already set up on your account, but it comes with a per-use fee stacked on top of interest that keeps charging until the balance is cleared.
A licensed payday lender gives you a set amount at a cost disclosed upfront, with no surprises once you've seen the numbers.
Available overnight/weekends | Application and decision: yes | Application only, typically | Yes, if already enabled |
Regulatory status | Licensed payday lender | Typically not licensed as payday lenders in Canada | Regulated banking product |
Maximum amount | $100 to $1,500 | Often capped near $250 for new users | Set by your bank, usually a few hundred dollars |
Cost structure | $14 per $100, disclosed upfront | Subscription and/or express-fee, varies by app | Per-use fee plus ongoing interest |
First-time speed | Very little time to a decision; Interac e-Transfer typically within 2 minutes | 1 to 3 business days for the first advance | Immediate, if already active |
Here's what you need:
Age: 18 or older (19 in British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia)
Residency: Living in a province where iCash is licensed to lend
Income: The same source of income for at least three months
Minimum income: At least $800 net per month
Banking: An active online bank account
Contact details: A valid mobile number (VoIP numbers aren't accepted), a home address, and an email address
There's no minimum credit score on this list, because there isn't one to meet. Consistency of income matters more than its source. Employment income, government benefits, and pension income can all be assessed the same way, provided it's steady and verifiable. If your income comes from government benefits, here's what that looks like in practice.
Worth knowing if you've borrowed from iCash before: after your first loan, future requests don't require a credit check.

iCash offers 24/7 payday loans in seven provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island. Applicants are accepted around the clock in every one of them.
What differs by province is the repayment structure, since that's set by provincial regulation. In Ontario and Nova Scotia, loans are repaid in a single payment. In Alberta, repayment is spread across installments over 42 to 62 days.
If you're borrowing in Manitoba, the province's Consumer Protection Office oversees payday lending and can answer questions about your rights as a borrower: 204-945-3800 in Winnipeg, 1-800-782-0067 toll-free, or consumers@gov.mb.ca.
Check your own province's page for the details that apply to you:
The best use case for a 24/7 payday loan is a time-sensitive expense you can cover with your next paycheque. Maybe your plumbing fails overnight, your car won’t start before work, or a bill is about to bounce. If the problem is that your budget comes up short every month, another short-term loan may simply push that same problem into the next pay period.
Decisions made at 2 a.m. tend to get made while you're tired and stressed, which is exactly the moment to slow down and run the numbers first. Take a few moments to check the repayment table above against your next payday before you apply.
If the timing or loan amount isn’t quite right for your situation, there may be other options to consider. These include overdraft protection you already have, asking the biller for a little more time to pay, requesting an advance from your employer, or checking whether you qualify for provincial assistance.
